BioBirthdate: September 21, 1993
Member of the National Triathlon Centre Junior Development Team
Member of the 2009 BC Provincial Team
Brook did his first triathlon at the Victoria Youth Triathlon when he was 8 years old and has been hooked ever since. He loves the variety and excitement that comes with training in 3 different sports. He is one of the original Kelly’s Kids triathlon team athletes and still have a close relationship with coach Kelly Guest. He now trains full time with National Triathlon Centre in Victoria and is coached by Patrick Kelly and Carolyn Murray.
In 2008, he won 3 gold medals at the BC Summer Games for the triathlon, aquathlon and the duathlon. In 2009, he was cut off by a car while training on his bike and broke his wrist 2 weeks before the start of the Junior Nationals Series. Therefore, he was unable to compete and be ranked in his first Junior year in Triathlon.
This year, he had to apply as a wild card to represent Canada in Monterrey Mexico in April for the Youth Olympic Games qualifier. 19 countries attended but only the top 8 countries would be allowed to send an athlete to represent them at the Youth Olympic Games. Brook finished 8th overall and was the top Canadian therefore he earned himself a ticket to Singapore in August where he will represent Canada in the first ever Youth Olympic Games. He will be unable to attend the National Triathlon Championships in August as it conflicts with the youth Olympics.
His goals for this year are to place in the top 3 of Triathlon Canadas Teck National Junior Series, get on the podium at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and to try and qualify for the Junior World Triathlon Championships in Budapest Hungry representing Canada.
